To start using the VK Ad Network, you need to add an app and create ad units to display ads. You can have several ad units of various formats for each app.
Adding an app
- To add an app, go to the Apps section and choose Add app.
- Insert your link (link to your app from this list: Google Play, AppStore, RuStore, Huawei Store).
After you have added an app, you will see a gray indicator. This means the app is currently inactive and is awaiting moderation. Apps are usually reviewed within 24 hours on working days.
You can start creating ad units for your app without waiting for the moderation to complete.
However, ads will only be displayed in your app and revenue accrued after your app completes moderation and your payment details are confirmed. The app’s status will change to Active.
Adding ad units
In the Apps section, navigate to Placements and click on Add placement.
- Select an app.
- Enter the name of a new ad unit.
- Select its format from the list.
- Select the type of integration: SDK or in-app bidding.
Only choose the integration type you will actually be using. If you choose one type of ad units and a different integration type, your ads will not work (the SDK banner type is not compatible with in-app bidding and vice versa).
5. (Optional) Specify your CPM floor.
An automatic CPM is set by default. If you want your ad unit to have the minimum possible cost per 1,000 impressions, select Manual and specify your value. You can set your floor CPM for specific geographies.
6. Select permitted types of creatives:
- banner ads;
- video;
- carousel (several banners within one ad unit that users can scroll through).
7. Click on Create. Your new ad unit will appear on the list.
To go to its settings, click on the ad unit’s name. On the Settings tab, you can specify and change at any time your CPM floor and permitted types of creatives, and add a custom ad tag.
Important change!
Each block has a block ID - it corresponds to the slot ID in MyTarget.
Apps settings
You can change your app settings by selecting a target audience or blocking ads.
To access app settings:
- Go to Apps.
- Select the app from the list.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Ads can be blocked based on domain, app, or category.
App statuses

Ad units settings
For each ad unit, you can specify a CPM floor and types of creatives.
To access ad unit settings:
- Go to Apps.
- Select the app from the list.
- On the Placements tab, find the app you need and click on the gear icon (Settings).
- CPM floor: by default, an automatic CPM value is set. If you want to change the default value, select Manual and type in your value in the General CPM floor field. If needed, you can change it for each geography.
- Allowed types of creatives - select the types of creatives that are allowed in your application.
- Code to call your ads (not for all block types) - code of the stub that will be called if there are no suitable ads for this block: for example, the best bid in the auction will be below the specified CPM threshold.
Copy ad units
You can clone ad units within an app. To do that:
- Go to Apps.
- Select the app from the list.
- On the Placements tab, find the app you need and click on the copy icon on the right. A new ad unit will have the same name followed by [clone].
