To promote personal profiles of VKontakte users, use campaigns with the Community and Profile advertising object. This type of campaign helps show your ads so that you get the most subscriptions and posts, promote posts to new audiences and keep the attention of your subscribers.

This type of campaign is suitable for bloggers, artists and musicians who run ads on their own or through an targeting specialist. 

In order to promote a personal profile, the page must meet the promotion conditions:

  • two-factor authentication is set up for it, 
  • the page is confirmed,
  • the page is open for all users,
  • the page was created at least 40 days ago.

You can promote both your own page and a client's profile - additional settings are required for that

Campaigns can be optimized in several ways:

  • to get more page subscriptions (target action - Subscribe);
  • to get more messages (target action - Wright Messages).
  • to engage the audience to leave likes and share your post (target action - Increase Reach).

The system will generate an ad that will be shown in the feed and in video in the VKontakte social network in the mobile and web versions.

Campaign creating

Step 1. To create a new campaign, in the Campaigns section of the Campaigns tab, click Create.

Step 2. Select the Community and Profile advertising object.

Step 3. Fill in the Advertised Object field: select a profile from the drop-down list.

For a page to appear in the drop-down list, you must be logged into VK Ads with the same VKontakte profile (VK ID account). Only open pages can be advertised.

Step 4. Customize the advertising campaign.

  • Optimize the campaign budget. Customization allows you to distribute the allocated budget among all your ads so that you get more targeted actions. The optimization algorithm determines which ads perform better and allocates a larger share of the daily campaign budget to them. This ensures that the campaign performs better. Budget optimization is enabled by default. Read more
  • Targeted Action. Defines the group of users to be targeted by the smart algorithm.
  • Campaign Bid Strategy. Allows you to limit the maximum bid or minimize spending to achieve the best result within the specified budget. Read more
  • Budget. The setting limits the amount that can be spent per day or for the entire campaign. Read more

Step 5. Set up targeting for the ad group. Learn more about targeting

A group can contain one or more ads that share common settings.

To create multiple ads in one group:

  1. Set the desired group settings.
  2. Go to the ad creation step, fill in all required fields.
  3. In the menu on the left, click on "..." next to the group name and select Add Ad. Another option is to duplicate the ad you created and then make changes. To do this, click on the "..." next to the name of the ad, and select .

You can also create multiple ad groups with different settings within the same campaign. To do this, click on the "..." next to the campaign in the menu on the left and select Add Group.

Step 6. Customize your ad. Here you can select a post from the previously published posts in your community and use it to launch an ad campaign or customize the ad manually.

Customizing the ad will differ depending on which targeted action you have chosen.

Target action - Subscribe and Write message

If you have selected the target action Subscribe or Write Messages, then at the step of creating an ad you need to create the text of the ad and attach an image. The button on the ad will appear automatically, the text on it will depend on the selected target action: Subscribe or Send Message.

Use the text autogenerator to create a description or title for your ad. Our algorithm will analyze the description and subject of your community and offer several creative options.

Target Action - Increase Reach

If you have selected the target action Increase reach, in the ad creation step you can select the post you will promote. You can only select posts from the personal profile you are promoting.

In the preview you will be able to see how the promoted post will look like.

If the original post contains emoji or text written in capital letters, you need to edit it.

Important: You cannot edit or upload additional attachments. If you need to do this, select a different target action in step 4.

Do not worry if you have entered something incorrectly. You can go back to any of the previous steps: edit, save to drafts, correct mistakes, etc.

Analyzing the results

To analyze the results, use the statistics block, where you can also add new metrics to analyze your ad campaign in more detail. Learn more about statistics

Promotion of customer profiles

You can promote both your own profile and the customer's page. To do this, you will need to create or log in to two VK Ads accounts:

  • Account of the owner of a personal profile. The type of account is Advertiser.
  • Account of the user who will be engaged in promotion of the profile (targeting specialist). The type of account is Advertiser.

Next, it is necessary to link the account of the targeting specialist with the account of the personal profile owner.

Targeting specialist:

  1. Go to the account of the targeting specialist.
  2. Copy the ID of the account - to do this, click on the name of the account in the upper right corner.
  3. Send the ID of the account to the personal profile owner.

Personal profile owner:

  1. Go to the account of the personal profile owner.
  2. Go to the Settings section → the Access rights tab and click Add account.
  3. Enter the ID of the account and select Extended rights. Read more about permissions

When the two accounts are linked, the targeting specialist will be able to promote the client's page.

  1. The targeting specialist needs to log in to own account.
  2. In the upper right corner, click on the name of account and select the client's account from the drop-down list. If the permissions are set correctly, the client's account will open.
  3. While in the client's account, launch an advertising campaign with the object Community and Profile.
