General requirements for catalogs

For feed file, you must follow the rules:

• File can be placed in different ways:
  • on a remote storage (server) on the advertiser's side. In this case, the file must be accessible via a direct link, without redirects.
  • as a file to be uploaded in the VK Ads account.
• File can be placed in an archive of one of the types: ZIP (*.zip extension); GNU ZIP (*.gz extension); Bzip2 (*.bz2 extension).
• Maximum allowed file size of a feed:
  • when linking to remote storage - 8Gb.
  • when downloading by file - 100Mb.
• The file must be saved in UTF-8 or Windows-1251 encoding.
• All text in the feed file fields must not contain markup elements (such as HTML tags).

If you need to use symbols in the text of the fields, replace them with the appropriate HTML codes so that they are correctly displayed in the ad:

• opening angle bracket (<) → &lt;
• closing angle bracket (>) → &gt;
• ampersand (&) → &amp;
• apostrophe (') → &apos;
• double quotes (") → &quot;

Most CMSs have a built-in XML export feature that allows you to automatically generate an XML file of the product feed. Contact the vendor of the CMS you are using for details. 

XML file handling is supported for Yandex and Google specification feeds.
