Adding new apps

Connecting your app to the advertising account enables you to run ads optimized for installs and in-app events, keep track of statistics on in-app events, and create new audiences based on such events.

If you want access to an app that already has an account owner in VK Ads, send a request for access using these instructions.

Please note, the VK Ads agency account cannot act as the owner of the mobile app, while the agency client account can. Read more about Clients

If you’re connecting the app for the first time, you need to add it and integrate it with a mobile tracker.

To add an app, go to Apps, click the Add app button and type in the link to your app. The system will generate a code which you will need to copy and paste in the App ID field in the tracker settings to integrate your app with a tracker.

The access will be confirmed after the tracker sends data on at least one install or event to VK Ads. Before that happens, your app will have a Checking access status.

After connecting the app, you will be able to optimize ads for installs and in-app events, keep track of statistics, and set up new audiences based on that data.

The tracker registers campaign statistics and sends this data to VK Ads.

After receiving the first postback from the tracker with the linking code, the application will receive the Master status.
If you want to allow other VK Ads or myTarget accounts to use this app, you need to issue rights from this VK Ads account.

Owners of applications from RuStore can confirm their status automatically, if the same VK ID is connected to the VK Ads account and to the developer's account in RuStore.

1. Connect your VK ID to the advertising account. You can do it during registration of a new cabinet or in an already created account.
2. Make sure that your developer account in RuStore is registered to the same VK ID.
3. Add your app to the VK Ads account as described above.
4. If the VK ID matches, the app will immediately get the Owner status in VK Ads.

If the app had already been connected to myTarget and you imported the app’s master account when signing up on VK Ads, you won’t need to add the app and integrate it with a tracker – it will appear in your account automatically, and your VK Ads account will have the Master status.

If you want to allow other VK Ads or myTarget accounts to use this app, you need to issue rights from this VK Ads account.

If the app had been connected to myTarget and you did not import the app’s master account when signing up on VK Ads, your myTarget account will remain the app owner. 

To promote the app via VK Ads, you will need to request access. Here's how to do that: 

1. Go to Apps in your VK Ads account. 
2. Click Add app, type in the link and click Send request.

The next steps must be performed by the app’s owner in myTarget:

1. Sign in the app’s master account, go to App list and click on Permissions in the app's card. 
2. After that, the owner will be able to grant any necessary permissions to the VK Ads account.

If your account is not assigned to a VK Ads app owner, you can request access to the app. To do this: 

1. Go to Apps in your VK Ads account. 
2. Click Add app, type in the link and click Send request.

Your request will appear in the app owner's account under the App List tab in VK Ads or in MyTarget.

Next, owner should click the on Permissions in the app's card and check the access rights for your account.

An app owner is a user with the status "Owner". You can get the status if you are the first user who connects the app in VK Ads (i.e. the app was not previously linked to any account).

The status is assigned after you receive at least one installation or event with the code that was issued at the moment of adding the app.

App owners:

• place app ads from their account;
• configure in-app event categories and view event statistics;
• optimize the ad campaign to maximize installs or in-app events;
• grant invited user access for other accounts using the Access tab in the application card.

Invited user is a user with the status "Have access". This is a user who has the ability to advertise the app in VK Ads with the owner's permission, but does not have the rights to fully manage the application.

Invited users:

• place app ads from their account;
• optimize for installs and in-app events, if the owner has granted relevant permissions;
• target ads for in-app events (if access is granted).

To get access to an app that already has an owner in VK Ads (i.e. to get the "Have access" status), you need to send a request to connect the app and wait for the owner's consent.

• Checking access — access to the application appears after the mobile tracker sends data about at least one install or event to VK Ads. Here are a few reasons why you are seeing this status:
  • We have not yet received any installations or events with the code that was issued at the time the application was added.
    If you have enabled the transmission of only attributed events, it means that not a single install received using VK Ads has occurred. For faster access, we recommend enabling unattributed event transmission.
  • You have not added the App ID code to the tracker.
  • You've added an App ID code, but haven't turned on install and event sharing.
• Owner – you are assigned as the owner of the application in VK Ads.
• Access Requested – you sent an access request to the app owner.
• Have access – the owner has granted you access, the application connection is completed.
• Denied - the owner denied access.
